JOB SUMMARY

Specialty Orthopedic Group is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to lead and optimize revenue cycle operations across our growing, multi-location orthopedic practice. This position oversees billing operations, accounts receivable, claims, reimbursement, denials, collections, reporting, and billing staff while identifying opportunities to improve workflows, technology, and overall revenue-cycle performance.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-focused leader who can analyze data, identify root causes, improve processes, and use technology and automation to strengthen collections, reduce denials, and increase efficiency.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, supervise, train, and develop billing staff while establishing performance and productivity expectations.
  • Oversee billing, coding, charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, A/R, collections, and patient account workflows.
  • Monitor key revenue-cycle metrics, including days in A/R, collections, denial rates, aging, clean claim performance, and reimbursement trends.
  • Identify recurring billing issues, investigate root causes, and implement solutions to improve reimbursement and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate and timely claims submission to commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, and other third-party payers.
  • Develop and maintain consistent billing workflows, procedures, and best practices across all locations.
  • Evaluate EMR, practice management, clearinghouse, payer portal, and reporting workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify and implement technology, automation, and AI-supported solutions that reduce manual work and improve accuracy and productivity.
  • Maintain compliance with payer requirements, HIPAA, federal and state regulations, and applicable billing and coding standards.
  • Partner with providers, clinic leadership, front office teams, and organizational leadership to resolve billing issues and improve communication and workflows.
  • Provide leadership with meaningful revenue-cycle reporting, trends, recommendations, and measurable improvement initiatives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of medical billing or revenue cycle experience required.
  • Leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
  • Orthopedic billing and multi-location healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, payer guidelines, denial management, appeals, reimbursement, and accounts receivable.
  • Experience with EMR and practice management systems, clearinghouses, payer portals, reporting tools, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate revenue-cycle data into practical solutions and measurable improvements.
  • Comfortable adopting new technology, automation, and AI-supported tools to improve billing operations.
