Job description
Specialty Orthopedic Group is seeking a friendly, professional, and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our Oxford clinic. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming experience while ensuring the efficient operation of the front office. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Flexibility to assist at other Specialty Orthopedic Group locations as needed is required.

Job Summary
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors while managing front office operations. This position includes patient check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, answering phones, collecting payments, maintaining patient records, and supporting the clinical team with administrative duties.

Job Responsibilities
  • Welcome patients and visitors with professionalism, courtesy, and compassion.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Schedule patient appointments, consultations, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
  • Check patients in and out while ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information.
  • Collect copayments, balances, and other patient payments in accordance with office procedures.
  • Verify that all required patient forms and documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Create, maintain, scan, and update patient records within the electronic medical record system.
  • Assist patients by providing information and directing questions to the appropriate team members.
  • Perform general clerical duties including scanning, copying, faxing, filing, and distributing documents.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and waiting area.
  • Protect the confidentiality of patient information and comply with all HIPAA and Specialty Orthopedic Group policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and fellow team members to ensure an outstanding patient experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of medical office or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and dependable work ethic.
