Specialty Orthopedic Group is currently seeking a Customer Service Specialist (CSS) to join our Billing Department. This position will be Monday-Friday, full-time.

The Customer Service Specialist role involves handling service calls from patients, addressing outstanding balances, and liaising between clinics, the central business office, and payors. The Customer Service Specialist will initiate contact with patients and answer all inquiries related to accounts receivable, while working closely with health insurance representatives and patients to resolve any issues on accounts.

JOB SUMMARY
The Customer Service Specialist role involves handling service calls from patients, addressing outstanding balances, and liaising between clinics, the central business office, and payors. The Customer Service Specialist will initiate contact with patients and answer all inquiries related to accounts receivable, while working closely with health insurance representatives and patients to resolve any issues on accounts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Input updated insurance and patient information into the computer system, including correcting bad addresses.
- Generate itemized statements and receipts upon patient request.
- Provide service estimates and manage payments, including setting up payment plans for physician services.
- Collaborate with Collection Agencies regarding patient payments, bad debt reports, and bankruptcy cases.
- Post patient payments to accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all inquiries received from patients, either via telephone or written requests.
- Complete and file necessary paperwork for services rendered, including bankruptcy filings, deceased patients, and billing records requests.
- Resolve issues related to returned statements (e.g., bad addresses, patient relocations).
- Generate and manage account reports, including small balance write-offs and statement holds.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures while promoting a culture of high quality and exceptional customer service.
- Provide exemplary customer service and work to resolve patient questions and complaints effectively.
- Handle sensitive financial matters with professionalism when communicating with patients.
- Perform other duties as required or deemed beneficial for Specialty Orthopedic Group.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in customer service or patient account management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
