RN OR Circulator
Job Summary:
Specialty Orthopedic Group is currently seeking an RN OR Circulator to join our Surgery Center team. This position requires providing skilled and competent nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative stages. The position involves four 10-hour shifts per week.
Job Responsibilities:
Communicate the planned procedures and treatments to patients and their significant others, building cooperation, trust, and understanding while alleviating anxiety and ensuring mutual consent in the care approach.
Educate patients based on their individualized needs as directed by the physician and in line with facility policies to ensure optimal preparation for surgery and post-discharge care.
Direct patient care in accordance with physician orders, performing thorough assessments of patient responses to medical treatments, prescribed medications, and identifying significant conditions or adverse reactions. Communicate these conditions to the physician, peers, and family.
Monitor vital signs and other critical indicators to detect deviations from expected values, intervene as necessary, and address changing patient conditions.
Conduct comprehensive health history interviews, order diagnostic tests as directed by anesthesia, interpret results, and coordinate any necessary consultations with anesthesia or specialists.
Plan and deliver patient care based on evidence-based practices, facility policies, and established protocols.
Verify patient identification, confirm the patient’s understanding of the planned procedure, cross-reference the signed consent form, and ensure the correct procedure site, side, supplies, allergies, and special needs are addressed.
Prepare patients for surgery, considering physician preferences, anticipated needs, and time management for optimal workflow.
Protect patient privacy during interactions, adhering to HIPAA standards to ensure the privacy and security of PHI and ePHI.
Job Qualifications:
Associate's Degree (A.A.) in Nursing or a Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current nursing license from the State Board of Nursing.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification preferred; required within 60 days of hire.
Advanced knowledge in critical thinking and applied critical care nursing practices.
Specific skills in aseptic techniques, use and application of surgical instrumentation, and knowledge of specialty surgical equipment and supplies.
